Summer Reading Assignment blog #4

So I finished the book Monster. I liked the book but it could be king of boring at places, the whole book mostly takes place in court which can become pretty boring but overall a good book. Why I chose this book over the others was because it just looked more interesting and it was more interesting. I narrowed the list down to about 5 books and I read the back of all the books and 4 of the books just didn't seem like a good book so i chose Monster. I would recommend this book to any freshman with this summer Reading assignment because this book I written like a movie script and it seems more interesting then a normal book, the story of this book is also a good one I think there could definitely be a movie of this book if their isn't already one. The book monster is a good book to read with some parts that could seem boring to some people but overall this book is pretty good I would rate it a 7/10 the lower rating is because the book doesn’t really have a variety of where the book takes place but the book is fun to read so the rating could not be that low.

Summer Reading Assignment blog 3

I have not written a blog i some time now because I took a break from the 4 blogs. I went on vacation and I had to read a bit more of the book On the Reading Assignment paper it says I have to write down a part of the book that’s "Hooking". "The best time to cry is at night, when the lights are out and someone is being beaten up and screaming for help. That way even if you sniffle a little they wont hear you. If anybody knows that you are crying, they'll start talking about it and soon it'll be your turn to get beaten up when the lights go out."(1) This section of text is from the beginning of the book you don't really know what he/she is talking about so you want to read more so thats why I think this is a good attention grabbing/hooking section of the text. Also after reading the text you might think about it is he talking about a prison or a bad neighborhood you don't really know until you read on till the next page where it talks about it taking in a prison? That’s why I think this is a good attention grabbing/hooking text because it makes the reader read on to more interesting things which will make the reader want to read more.

Summer Reading Assignment Blog #2

Since the last Blog post I have read another 60 pages or so of my book and so far I like it. I can probably finish the book on the flight to California where were going in a couple of days. In this blog post I will talk about The complexity of the characters, I named all the characters in Blog 1 if you don't know who any of these people are. The main character is called Steve Harmon he is falsely accused of murder, its pretty simple what he want (or desires) all he wants is to be put free and not go for jail what he has not done. And then we have to judge pretty simple what he wants "JUSTICE". then we have O'Brien the lawyer (defensive attorney) who wants to do everything to make sure Steve does not go to prison. Im am not really noticing a theme yet maybe the theme is revealed more later in the book or at the end. I really like how to book is structured its written as a movie script the whole book is written like a movie script, its one of the main reasons why I chose this book. it makes the book easier to read.
And you pay more attention to little details.well ill will end this blog post now and i think you should really give this book a try I hate reading and i like this book.

Summer Reading Assignment Blog #1

The book i'm reading is called Monster, as said on the paper it is from the Printz Award Winner list. The book is about a boy named Steve Harmon and is falsely accused murder and he is only 16 years old. The book has a very interesting style of writing everything is written as a movie script. It’s written like the camera zooms in on Timmy's face as he says goodbye to his best friend, the camera follows Timmy's best friend. The major characters in this book are the main character Steve Harmon, Sandra Petrocelli as the Dedicated Prosecutor, Kathy O'Brien as the defense Attorney, James King as the thug, Richard "Bobo" Evans as the rat, Osvaldo Cruz as the tough guy wannabe, Lorelle Henry as the whitness, and Jose Delgado he found the body. As I said before the book is written as a movie script so this is infront of the book like how it would be on a real movie script. The setting of this book right now is a courtroom but my predicton is that the setting will be a prison to. There are many conflicts happening because right now the book is taking place in a courtroom so the main conflict is who is quilty Steve Harmon or James king. My predictions are that Steve Harmon will go to Prison. Some questions I have are how did this start? What happend before Steve was arrested? And what did he do exactly to get caught? I can’t really find any connection to movies, and shows because I never really watched any shows or movies like this book. Im going to read a chunk more to and then do the next Blog.

My knock your socks of blog is going to look amazing compared to this one. an update on my book its still interesting, i know i saw interesting a lot but stephan king realy writes interesting books.

There are no new "important" characters just ones that come in and then out again, If you have finished your book i think you should give this book a try because, well read my other posts they have a lot of reason why you should read Dead Zone. some main reason why is beacusae its interesting its exciting and its somethimes scary, beacsue its a part horror book. i am going to conclude this blog post now

Final Blogging Assesment in English 1B

 

Dead Zone, a book by Stephan King, some say that he is the best writer of all time some say he is the worst. Stephan KIng has written many books like Dead Zone, Misery and Tommy Knockers, that's all i can think of out of my head. also if you look at his books they can be thick like 400-500 pages, this is because Stephan King is very detailed in his writing. for example if someone tripped over something the book will tell you where it happened, how he/she fell and over what he/she fell.

 He also makes you interested in the book by having a strong beginning but a slow one, he has some plot twists trown in there to make the reader interested and making the reader want to read more. for example (not in the book i'm making this up) Jim is walking at night, its very quiet he hears something in the ally, he slowly walks into the ally, he sees a shadow.... oh its just a little rat. Stephan King writes like that a lot.

The book also uses lots of diolage to inform the reader what the personality of the characters .for example some textual evidence. "enough?" Sarah asked "One more," Johnny said "If I win, thes guy paid for our fair and your gas. If I lose. we're  out half a buck or so." "Hey-hey-hey," the pitchman chanted. He was brithtening up now, getting his rhythm back.  "get it down where you want it down. "Step right up, you other folks"(35.)

To the right is the movie trailer of the movie dead zone Its about 2 min long so its not that bad and after watching the movie trailer you might have a better understanding of the book to its kind of a summary. Also below is a Picture of Johnny Smith (the main charachter if you did not already know that, this is getting pretty long now).

Right now the book is kind of boring the main character is not there and there are lots of temporary characters so the book can be kind of confusing sometimes. but so far I do like the book, not the best but good. I will have to read a bit more in the book to find out more information about Johnny and what happened to Sarah. 

If you are going to ever read this book i have to warn you it can be kind of confusion sometimes. 

like temporary characters, as i said before in the previous post that Stephan king books are very detailed so he might write two sentences about someone reading a book and can confuse you if he is talking about something else. 

This book has a slow start

The book really has a slow start not much has happened but thats probably because I have not read a lot only like 100 pages. if you have been wondering what johnny looks like here is a picture of johnny as a teacher, before his accident. before reading this book I have read a little bit of another book from stephan king, Misery (in Dutch). I really didnt like it so i said i hated stephan king books, then I triend Dead Zone and im stating to like it. Below is a picture of the book(its blurry beacuse it was a small picture. (CAN BE A SPOILER)Right now the book is pretty much just two poeple trying to get johnny out of his coma.Im going to read bit more out of the book so i can continue to blog.

so far I am liking Dead Zone.I have read a decent chunk of the book now to know what the book is really about. if you want to find look at my first blog post, read it or just watch the video if your too lazy to do so, ill tell you anyway. (this is not a spoiler its also in the trailer) johnny is finally in his coma after his car accident. the book is also very detailed. for example if someone tripped over something the book will tell you where it happened, how he/she fell and over what he/she fell. which I like about the book

Summary:The collum is about kids liking logos more and more and that kids are spending lots of time on lego creations.

A line I think is best written is "Some sit cross-legged on the floor, doing homework. Some talk quietly to a friend or have a snack. Others check their mothers' watches somewhat compulsively. Many have been waiting with their parents for as long as two hours." This part of the text is well writen because its shows what kids normally do when the are bored and these exaples are very good.
 this also make the reader think back when they were a child and how the past time when they were bored.

The book is starting to become more interesting

I have read a bit more of my book Dead Zone and its finaly getting intersting.
New things are happening, the book is now also taking place on other locations other than just the college. There are 2 major events so far that happend johnny wins $500 at a festival by guessing a number right 4 times in one of those circle things where you put your money at a number and hope the spinner lands on that number. Then there is another interesting thing that happend and I was like WHAT!! I cant tell you the thing because it would be a spoiler so you will have to read the book yourself. So far no other characters have been introduced to the story, just Johnny, Sara and Dan.

So far Dead Zone is pretty interesting. I have read a little bit of the book like 40 pages. not many things have happened so far. A bit of information about the book. there are 3 characters in the book called Johnny (the main character) Sara and Dan,the book does not tell a lot of information bout Sara or Dan. The setting of this part of the book is at a University or College, but I think it will take place other places too. 

I will have to read bit more in Dead Zone to find out more information about Dan and Sara, and more about the plot of this book. As I said before not that much has happened in Dead Zone so that why this blog post is a bit short.

The book I will be reading this Trimester  is Dead Zone I chose this book because i had nothing to read so i asked my mom if she knew a book and se suggested Dead Zone, and it looked interesting so i chose it. The book is about a schoolteacher named Johnny Smith who woke up from a 5 year coma after a car crash, and when he woke up he could see people's past and future by touching them. a little information about the author Stephan King. Stephan King writes horror, suspense, Science-Fiction and fantasy genres. He was born on September 21, 1947 (66), some popular books he wrote are Dead Zone, Under the Dome, The shining and the Tommyknockers.
